The first step to use a WiFi Extender is to set it up using Ap.setup. A lot of new s struggle at this step.

If you are one of them, this post is specially written for you. Here, I will guide you on how to set up any WiFi Range Extender using the Ap.setup page. I will explain the procedure for Wavlink, Kogan, and several other WiFi Extenders.

What is Ap.setup?

When you buy a new WiFi range extender or repeater for your home or office, you will have to set it up manually for the first time. Some people tend to request technicians for such a simple task, while the other smarter folks try doing it themselves. Considering that you are smart enough to try and that brought you here, I’ll help you with setting up the newly purchased WiFi network enhancement device.

Ap.setup is a web page that allows you to configure your WiFi Extender or Repeater easily in a few minutes. It is an offline platform that works for the devices of any brand. It doesn’t matter if you use Wavlink, D-Link, Comcast, or Kogan, this page will help you to set up your device. This page not only lets you set up the extender but also helps you customize its default configurations.

What does it do?

Ap.setup is an offline web page to set up a WiFi Extender or Repeater of any brand. Just like your router has an from where you can change or edit the settings, the extender has an Access Point Setup page. It also features a similar dashboard to the control center of the router.

It allows you to set up the device, view default configurations, and make the required tweaks to enhance the overall performance of the device. If you want the best results out of any device, you should understand using it wisely.

How to Setup WiFi Extender with Ap.setup?

If you have a new Extender, you can set it up to boost the range of your WiFi network using the Ap.setup page. There are two ways to set up the device using this offline web page. One is setting up the device using a browser, and the other is setting it up using WPS. I will explain both of them, but before that, there is something else you should learn.

A WiFi Extender offers two modes of configuration- Extender Mode and Access Point Mode. Here is a quick overview of both modes:

Extender Mode: In this mode, the range of existing wireless signals is boosted without using any wired setup. If the router has a WPS  button, then you can connect the router and extender by simply pressing the WPS button together on both devices.

Access Point Mode: In this mode, you need to connect the extender to the router using a wired connection. You have to toggle the switch of the extender or repeater to the AP mode before configuring it to enhance the range of the WiFi. The setup is done via a browser.

Now that you have learned the basics, let’s move on to the setup procedure.

Extender Setup using a Browser

Follow these steps to complete the Extender setup using a web browser:

Step-1: Plug-in the Extender close to the router. It should be in the same room or 5-10 feet away at most.

Step-2: Now connect the device you are using (PC or Mobile) to the Extender WiFi network. It will be available as “Wireless-N” for 2.4GHz frequency and “Wireless-AC” for 5GHz frequency.

Step-3: After connecting, launch the browser. You can use the default browser of your device. The AP Setup wizard will automatically launch upon opening the browser. If it didn’t, type http://ap.setup in the URL bar.

You can also type https://192.168.10.1 in the URL bar as it is the default IP for Extender.

Step-4: When the setup page opens, click on “Start Setup.” If it asks you to , then enter “” in lowercase in both name and fields.

Step-5: When the setup interface opens, click the mode you’d like to set up. You can choose Extender Mode or Access Point Mode. After that, select the WiFi network you wish to extend.

Step-6: Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.

Once the setup is complete, you can unplug the extender and keep it at any place you like.

Extender Setup using WPS (WiFi Protected Setup) Button

Follow these steps to complete the Extender setup using WPS:

Step-1: Firstly, plug-in the Extender near the WiFi router. Don’t keep it far away just yet as this method might fail then.

Step-2: Now find the WPS button on the Extender. Next, press and hold it for 2 to 3 seconds until the LED starts blinking.

Step-3: Next, find and press the WPS button on the router. If the router is WPS disabled, you will have to access the to enable it first.

Step-4: WPS lights on both devices will keep blinking for around 10-15 seconds. When the setup is complete, the lights will stop blinking, and the internet and WPS light on the extender will become stable.

That’s it. This is a simpler way to set up an extender if you have WPS enabled on your router.
